Abstract

Climate change is a long-term change in climate patterns that requires appropriate measures to preserve the life of rural settlements. Rural areas are known as sparsely populated places with low housing density and far from urban centers, which are mainly changing with components such as changes in employment, socio-cultural factors, and concerns about the future of these areas. The combination of these changes with climate change has created complex and new challenges for rural settlements. The present study was designed to investigate the impact of climate change on the physical, economic, and social structure of villages. The present study is applied in terms of the type of research and is descriptive-analytical in nature. The statistical population of the present study is the heads of households in Anjirab Rural District, Gorgan County. The number of samples required to complete the questionnaire was determined as 363 people using the Cochran formula as the sample size. The sampling was stratified random. In this study, SPSS software was used to analyze the data. The findings of this study showed that the local community's perception of climate change is at a strong level. The results of this study also showed that climate change has a significant impact on the physical, social and economic structure of rural settlements. Among the variables mentioned, the greatest impact of climate change on the social structure of the village was with a coefficient of determination of 1.57 percent.e physical, social and economic structure of rural settlements.
