History of the Journal
The first issue of this journal was published in the fall 2003, under the title “Geography and Regional Development”, as an annex of Journal of Faculty of Letters and Humanities (Scientific Journal). As a special issue of Geography and Regional Development, the second issue was published in the summer of 2004 under the title Journal of Faculty of Letters and Humanities (Scientific Journal). The journal was separated from the Journal of Faculty of Letters and Humanities from the fourth issue and published independently. It was then upgraded to scientific journal from the fifth issue.
Policy of Archiving Digital Versions of Papers
The Archive of the Journal’s Website
All electronic contents of the journal (website, papers, etc.) are archived in two ways: The PDF version of all papers are accessible online for the audience. Moreover, one copy of the same content is kept by another server as a support. In case of defect in accessing the website of the journal or damage to the information of the papers, all papers are accessible online within 24-36 hours by the supporting server.
All issues published in the journal are also archived in the system of scientific publications of Iran, and in case the website of the journal is down, the articles will be available through it.
Indexing Websites
The main information of the journal, abstracts, and PDF version of all published papers are archived on the website of the Journal of Geography and Regional Development and Iran Scientific Journal System.

Personal Archiving
All authors can archive their own papers on their own personal desktops or the websites of their institutions, just after being published by the website of the journal.
Open Access Policy
The Journal of Geography and Regional Development, owned by Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, strictly follows the requirements of open access of Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).
The Journal of Geography and Regional Development is an open access journal, which means that all audience can access all the contents of the journal for free. All users are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link the papers. Readers can use the papers for legal purposes without prior permission from the authors or the publisher.
This journal provides quick free access to all its content according to the principle that allowing the public free access to academic research will ensure global knowledge exchange.
Copyright Policy
The authors have the copyright of their own papers, but allow all other people to download, use, publish, revise, distribute and copy their papers, provided that they mention correctly and exactly the original authors and publisher.

Plagiarism System
In order to prevent plagiarism,the Journal of Geography and Regional Development uses Hamyab Plagiarism Checking System for checking the originality of Persian texts and iThenticate for checking the originality of non-Persian texts (English extended abstracts of Persian papers). All papers are checked for the originality before being sent to the reviewers, and rejected if the similarity is more than 20%.
Privacy Policy
All names and email addresses registered in the website of the journal are only used along the purposes of the journal, are not accessible to other parts, and will not be given to any other individuals or organizations.
other revenue
Ferdowsi University of Mashhad as the publisher of the journal, supports it for each published issue by paying a defined budget according to its published annual rank in Portal of Scientific Journals of Iranian Ministry of Science, Research and Technology. The allocated budget includes those pertaining to setup and maintenance of the publication infrastructure, routine operation of the Journal, processing of manuscripts through peer-reviews, editing, publishing, maintaining the scholarly record, and archiving.
The other financial source of this journal is fees paid by authors whose articles have been accepted for publishing. Revenue sources do not influence on editorial decision making.

Publishing Prices
The publishing price is 3,500,000 Rials that is received after being accepted for publishing.
