Abstract
Motorized transportation has a wide range of adverse consequences on urban communities and the environment, including pollution, heavy traffic, and an increase in accidents. One of the urban transportation solutions compatible with urban livability is the use of bicycles for intra-city travel along with other means of public transportation. Therefore, this research aims to investigate the viability of clean transportation in District 8 of Tehran. The research method is descriptive-analytical and the data was collected through library study and survey method (questionnaire and interview). The validity of the instrument and its reliability were confirmed with Cronbach's alpha (a=0.98). A sample size of 383 people was computed based on the 2016 population census of the region using Cochran's formula. Data analysis was conducted using one-sample and Friedman tests and in SPSS software. The results suggest that the livability status of District 8 of Tehran is positive and over 2.5 in all indices except the economic index, which suggests the desirable status of the studied indices in the entire region. Also, the significant coefficient shows a significant difference in only two indices of attractiveness and beauty (0.019), and accessibility (0.009) in neighborhoods of District 8 of Tehran. Moreover, regarding the status of the neighborhoods in terms of clean transportation livability, indicators suggest that Tehranpars, Dardasht, Madain, and Hafthauz neighborhoods are ranked first to fourth in terms of clean transportation and livability respectively, followed by Narmak, Eastern Lashkar, Western Lashkar and Taslihat neighborhoods.
