Abstract
Due to its dynamic nature, the tourism industry is deeply dependent on the "security" component, and any disruption in it can stop the flow of travel. However, the occurrence of a wide range of natural, human, and physical threats has always exposed tourism destinations to vulnerability; therefore, recognizing and managing these crises is an inevitable necessity not only to protect the lives and health of tourists, but also as a condition for the survival and economic sustainability of tourism destinations. In this regard, this study has identified and prioritized the indicators affecting the threats and crises affecting the security of tourists in the cities of Ilam and Dezful. First, by studying the literature on the subject and examining the experiences of other similar cities, the threats and crises affecting the security of tourists were identified. Then, using the combined ANP and DEMETL techniques, the relative importance of each of these indicators was determined from the perspective of 50 experts in the fields of urban planning, tourism, and the environment. In contrast, the dimensions of management-institutional and health-health, although they are in lower ranks, significantly intensify or moderate the intensity and consequences of other threats. The analysis of sub-indices showed that components related to public health and hygiene, including environmental pollution, the spread of infectious diseases and water pollution, are the most critical factors of vulnerability to tourist security. In addition, unsafe roads,
