Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has led to unprecedented changes in societies and the environment, creating challenges for humanity on individual, local, and global scales. The coronavirus has ignited the scientific community in ways that no other outbreak or event has ever had such an impact on this community, and this reflects the scope of this reality and the pandemic for many researchers. Geography has not been left out of this struggle and will not be left out, and the new geography must face a world in which activities and damage are constantly being created and expanded in geographical space. In this study, we first analyze the current state of geography in Iran and during the outbreak of the coronavirus. Finally, we examine the changes that need to be made in the post-corona world in the structure and nature of this knowledge so that this knowledge can be transformed from a purely academic and theoretical knowledge to an applied knowledge and, so to speak, a scientific housecleaning can be carried out in it. The results of the study indicate that geography must be able to find its true and original place in human society, and to achieve this, it is necessary to create a more humanistic geography, help increase the spirit of cooperation between geographers and other scientific disciplines in solving environmental problems, increase the impact of geography on the realm of politics, pay special attention to sustainable development in geography, and emphasize scientific anarchism in helping to discipline geographical studies. We also need an efficient geography to help better learn the problems of the time and the ability to solve future problems.
