Abstract

Globally, despite increasing urbanization, extreme poverty remains a rural phenomenon. Of the 1.2 billion very poor people in the world, 75% live in rural areas and most of them depend on agriculture, forestry, fisheries and related activities for survival. Rural tourism has been mentioned as the basis of development and reduction of poverty in rural areas and has led to the development of various activities in economic, social, physical and environmental dimensions in rural areas. Therefore, it is necessary to examine the change and evolution of tourism development on reducing poverty in rural areas. The purpose of this research is to investigate the change and evolution of tourism development on the reduction of rural poverty in Darb Gonbad village of Kohdasht city. The current research is of applied type and its method is descriptive-analytical. The preparation of the required data is based on the field method. The statistical population of this research is the population of 5 villages that attract tourism in Darb Gonbad village, and using Cochran's formula, the number of 189 questionnaires was determined as the sample size and randomly distributed among the people in the study area. Also, data analysis was done using Spss software (descriptive and inferential statistics). The results of this research show that the level of tourism development in the studied villages is higher than average. Also, the results showed that there is a significant difference between the level of tourism development in villages (p value>/005). Therefore, in general, it can be said that there is a significant direct relationship between the development of tourism and the reduction of rural poverty.
