Abstract
Policy-making and optimal planning of rural tourism destinations requires recognition and evaluation of the current situation. The present study first examines and analyzes tourism development in rural areas of Uramanat in Kurdistan province of Iran, and then by assessing the employment and entrepreneurship status of tourism in this rural area, the relationship between these two variables based on the dominant areas of tourism has been analyzed. The population of this study was 30 villages in Sarvabad and Kamyaran counties. The development of rural tourism was measured at the village level and for this purpose, by designing a comprehensive worksheet, the required data about the location of villages, the required public infrastructure and specialized facilities supporting tourism, the types of tangible and intangible and exploitable heritage and the products and events of tourism in the studied villages were collected through interviews with local managers. By selecting a sample of 300 people, dimensions and components of rural tourism entrepreneurship were also measured by designing and validating another questionnaire at the level of people and to match the first variable, it was summarized at the rural level. In both variables, there was a significant advantage with a few villages with both cultural heritage and natural attractions, and the other villages were a homogeneous group, incapable of tourism development and without jobs and tourism entrepreneurship. There is a significant positive correlation between two variables of tourism development, employment and tourism entrepreneurship, especially in villages with both types of cultural-historical and natural displacements, which have a more appropriate situation in relation to both variables. Therefore, with deliberate and forward-looking planning, it can be hoped that valuable cultural and historical heritages of Oraman Kordestan, through rural tourism mechanism, in addition to ethnic identity, can have lasting effects on the economic situation and livelihoods of these people.
