Abstract

In the past, cities have faced many demographic changes due to war, natural disasters and diseases. Today, cities have many demographic changes too. Urban shrinkage is the long-term loss of population that causes the decline of a city or city center. The quality of life has a significant impact on the longevity of residents. The eighth district of Mashhad, which is adjacent to the Razavi holy shrine; Despite the settlement of pilgrims in this area, since 2005, it has been facing a decrease in the resident population. according to the quality of life in not leaving the residents from their area, in this article, an attempt has been made to evaluate the quality of life based on the residents leaving the district as urban shrinkage. This method used is descriptive-analytical; The method of collecting information has through reading library sources and completing questionnaires from citizens living in the 8th district. The sample size has calculated with the PASS software of 342 people. The reliability of the questionnaire questions has confirmed using Cronbach'salpha and McDonald's Omega; SPSS software has used to analyze the data obtained from the questionnaires and Smart PLS software has usedto construct the structural equation Model. The results of this studyshowed that the social status (0.64) has the greatest impact on the quality of life in the district. Economic status (-0.26) also has a negative effect on the quality of life. Finally, it has found that there is a significant relationship between quality of life and urban shrinkage.
