Abstract

The possibility of using equally of all the facilities of city is all residents’ significant demand. The main barrier to it, however, is human and environmental problems in cities. So, living in city imposes some duties on citizens. In addition to the duties and that law determines for all citizens, they assume the right to the city for achieving an ideal life. Analyzing the livability indicators by taking the right to the city can solve many urban problems and make citizens satisfied. This study tried to analyze the impacts of different components of the right to the city in western cities of Mazandaran province. The first statistical population of the descriptive-analytical study is consisted of citizens of Baldeh, Kajur and Pool. According to the 2016 census, the cities have a population of 7240. The sample size was determined to be 365 people using Cochran’s formula. The second statistical population of the practical study was urban experts of these cities. Twenty five experts were selected according to Delphi technique. The results of Friedman test and one-sample t-test showed that according to the significance level of the test less than 0.05 (which is equal to 0.001), regarding the socio-cultural dimension Baldeh with a rank of 2.14 is the highest, and regarding economy dimension, Kajur with a rank of 2.34 have the highest rank among the west cities of Mazandaran province. Moreover, regarding the physical-biological dimension, considering that the significance level of the test is more than 0.05 (and the score of the dimension is 0.302), even though Kajur, Baldeh and Pool have different ranks, because this difference is not significant, they have equal ranks. Among the dimensions, the physical-biological dimension has the most importance. Moreover, the results of the Kruskal-Wallis test on comparing the opinions of citizens and experts regarding the social-cultural, physical-biological, and economic dimensions of understanding the right to the city, showed that the status of the dimensions is the same from the citizens and experts’ perspective. Some suggestions were then made in this regard.
