Abstract

While studying rural tourism of big cities, we will face two different but related discussions. One of these discussions is about the purposes of tourism. It means the villages and rural areas in which tourists choose to spend their free and leisure time. These rural areas are considered as tourism productions. The other discussion is the issue of accessibility. Tourists choose villages and rural areas that have tourist attractions and are not located far away from their residences. The present article has chosen the big city of Mashhad as its case study. It then studies the issue of accessibility of rural areas as tourism productions and the area of tourism influence. The results of the study show that the area of tourism influence in the big city of Mashhad is something about 43/20 Km. and the villages and rural areas that are located within this domain are considered as tourism attractions.
