Considering the hot climate and environmental challenges of Ahvaz metropolis, enhancing physical resilience not only provides a platform for reducing infrastructural vulnerability but also, by optimizing environmental comfort, serves as a vital infrastructure for increasing psychological vitality and workforce productivity in urban centers. Identifying and prioritizing these components can develop a roadmap for urban managers to transform work environments into sustainable, vibrant, and efficient spaces. In this regard, the present study aims to identify and prioritize the components of urban physical resilience affecting the enhancement of employee vitality and productivity in Ahvaz metropolis. To this end, first, the key indicators and sub-indicators of urban physical resilience were identified through a meticulous study of the subject literature and a review of related research backgrounds. Subsequently, using the hybrid DANP model (DEMATEL-based Analytic Network Process), the relative importance, weight, and causal relationships of each of these components were determined and evaluated from the perspective of experts in the fields of urban planning, architecture, and environmental psychology/human resource management. The results derived from the DANP technique indicate that enhancing employee vitality and productivity in Ahvaz metropolis requires a transition to a "defensive-climatic urbanism" approach and a focus on survival-oriented needs. In this system, "safety" and "climatic comfort" are considered ultimate (effect/effected) goals, the realization of which requires intervention in root drivers such as access infrastructure and physical design. Given the harsh climatic conditions, physiological needs outweigh aesthetic aspects, and urban management must redirect its resources from showcase/superficial measures towards protective and quick-impact projects, such as creating shaded pedestrian corridors and facilitating emergency networks; because until the vital prerequisites of "immediate thermal comfort" and "basic safety" are provided as a defensive shield against environmental stresses, no secondary intervention will lead to a tangible improvement in workforce efficiency and vitality.
