Abstract

Marginal settlement is now among the problems that most cities of the world encounter. This study tried to explore the role of local business development in increasing employment in the marginal areas of Sa’di county of Shiraz. The statistical population of the causal descriptive study includes all residents living in the marginal area of Sa’di Township over diverse time periods. The size of the sample was determined by Cochran's formula. The participants were selected non-random purposeful method and random cluster sampling method. The reliability of the questionnaire that was tested by Cronbach’s alpha is 0.86. The results showed that the role of local business development in increasing employment in the marginal areas of Sa’di Township Shiraz can be explained. In other words, by the development of local business, employment will increase. One can also conclude that considering the average ranking of such internal components as support-persuasion, infrastructure, and financing factors, they have different priorities and every of them affects the employment. It is suggested that the citizenship rights of the residents of the marginal areas of Sa’di Township be accepted officially in economic, social, and physical planning and in allocating financial credits and loans to increase employment. It is also suggested that Unemployed and low-income groups be considered in different plans of Fars Province.
