Abstract

Urban development and population growth caused significant increase in daily intra-city travels which have led to many negative consequences. using integrated transportation system as one of the main components of smart growth, can result in development of sustainable transportation by linking the existing infrastructure and increasing the efficiency and attractiveness of the whole system. This study investigates user’s community of bike-sharing (bydoo) and urban buses in order to estimate integration with correlation method. 384 questionnaires were designed and completed by users of the combined system around 9 specific sites near bus stations and terminals hub. Pearson correlation test and ordinal logistic regression model were also used to investigate the significant relationship between items and the intensity of variables.

Then, with the SWOT technique, the opportunities and limitations of combined system are determined and by using the opinions of a community of 20 experts, the coefficient of importance of internal and external factors and the type of strategies were identified. In the next step with QSPM method, strategies were evaluated and prioritized based on the attractiveness in the system. According to the results, it was found that high, medium and low usage rate of the combined system is 11.2%, 19.3%, 69.5%, respectively. The correlation coefficient of car ownership (-0.471), cycling distance (-0.369), travel time (-0.338), education (-0.316) and income (-0.294) with usage frequency of the combined system is inversely related. Also, the existence of bicycle paths with a correlation coefficient of 0.439 has a direct effect on the usage rate.

Finally, some of the most important Strategies to improve the combined system are as follows: increase the number of shared bicycle stations, design and construct more bike parking in the bus terminals and main stations, create Continuous bicycle paths and providing conditions for transporting bikes with buses via installing racks.
