Abstract

Makran coast and region consists of the districts of Dashtiari, Chabahar, Konarak, Zarabad, Jask and Sirik as the only coastal area with ocean access in Iran, which has countless capacities for development. Unfortunately, this strategic and unique region is one of the less developed regions of Iran, which until now not only has not been used for its huge capacities, but also because of its neglect, it is under development and on the periphery. The capacity to accept the population and build urban settlements, port capacity, trade and transit, the establishment of mother industries, high potentials for breeding, fishing and aquatic industry, huge tourism capacities, communication corridor and gateway to Eurasia and connecting Central Asian republics and Afghanistan is close to the coastal countries of the world and close to the great global markets of the Indian subcontinent and East Asia, which are important parts of the talents of this region. The main question of the research is why so far Iran has not been able to use the unique capacities of this region properly and what strategy is needed to make them activating. This research has been done by descriptive analytical method and using library data. The results of the research show that the Islamic Republic of Iran needs to adopt a geo- economic strategy and discourse before any action to enter into the processes of grounding the development of Makran and actualizing the huge capacities of the Makran region.
