Abstract

Geographic Information System (GIS) can be used in tourism as a tool for decision making for sustainable tourism planning, impact assessment, visitor flow management and site selection. The purpose of this study is to integrate a Geographic Information System (GIS) with a combined modeling process of multi-criteria decision analysis - multi-criteria evaluation (MCDA-MCE) to assess the relative importance of physical and natural factors to determine urban tourism potential areas in Tabriz. Therefore, eight factors affecting the location of tourism sites were selected through a survey based on a questionnaire from tourism and land management experts. After determining the importance of each factor by the Analytic Network Process (ANP) model, the methods of estimating the Ordered Weighted Averaging (OWA) and Boolean intersection (Boolean), in combination with fuzzy layers, to identify potential locations. Tourism was used. The results of this study were to present a different approach and reliable models for identifying potential places for urban tourism, which showed physical factors such as distance from parking, shopping centers, roads and distance from cultural and historical centers, followed by accommodation and treatment centers. Order was the most important factor for spatial modeling of tourist sites.
